Busted

A few weeks ago, I went with Zack and his family to Arkansas for a little getaway. It was a blast. I’m growing more and more accustomed to becoming one with nature while hanging out with Zack. We were riding in the boat one day…the whole family. I was sitting towards the back of the boat. Zack was standing close by. The sun was beating down on us; the wind was slapping us in the face. It was great.

As I began to say something to Zack’s older cousin, I heard a loud pop. I immediately looked down at my chest – and yes- the plastic piece holding my bathing suit together broke. And left me exposed for all to see. I of course started yelling for Zack to grab my shirt, which he did. And as he handed it to me, he asked with a quizzical expression, “How do you plan on going swimming now?!”…as if I had planned to bust out of my bathing suit.

Give Me the World

My grandmother passed away. It’s been hard dealing with, but was very much a relief when she finally did pass because she had been comatose for three weeks with no chance of coming back.

Zack and I have been dating for about 2 months. He had never met my grandmother, but came to the services to be there for me, which was very thoughtful.

Zack was being introduced to everyone under the sun, including my brother’s best friend’s dad. Quite the jokester, Mr. Charlie is. He asked Zack what he was giving me for Christmas (jokingly of course). I didn’t know if Zack knew he was joking or not, so I instantly said “He’s giving me the world.”

Now, i was trying to save Zack from an awkward position, but instead ended up in it myself, when my boy replied, “You’re going to be really disappointed!” Everyone thought that was hilarious. Yeah, real funny Zack…you big jerkface.

Of course, it got around the whole funeral home how “hilarious” Zack was; it even got back to my dad. I’m always getting picked on by the fam and they were so happy I found a guy who will pick on me as well. Good thing the response was the perfect way to get in good with my family. Really.

They adore him.

Italian Sausage

Christmas time. One of my favorite times of the year. I was going to spend Christmas Eve with Omar’s family. It was our first Christmas together. I wanted to make a good impression on his family and being that they were Italian, I thought it a perfect idea to bring Italian sausage as a contribution to their family gathering.

That morning, I woke up early so I could accomplish everything I needed to do. I visited with my family for a bit and helped my mom do some baking. Went to Calandro’s because supposedly they have the best Italian sausage in town. Finished wrapping presents; baked a few dozen cookies; got ready for the dinner party.

While I was getting ready, his mom stopped over to borrow a few serving dishes. I was so excited about my idea to bring the Italian sausage that I just couldn’t keep it a secret from her.

She wants to try a little taste, so I tell her it’s in the fridge. She opens the fridge door and says, “All I see is the sausage still in the package.” And my response, all bubbly, was something along the lines of…I know-I thought it’d be easier to just slice it when I got there, but feel free to open it and have as much as you want.

She was confused at first, but then couldn’t control her laughter when she realized that since I don’t eat pork, I didn’t realize you were supposed to actually cook it.

That’s right. I almost brought raw sausage to their Christmas Eve party. That definitely would have made a lasting impression alright.
